Crazy Quilting 1When Maureen was researching the History of Quilting in Canada for her Diploma in P&Q, she had the rare pleasure of studying several crazy quilts that were tucked safely away in museum archives. This inspired her to revisit this age-old technique. In these sessions Maureen will share with her students many different techniques, including embroidery stitches from these antique quilts, beading, and silk ribbon embroidery to name a few.
Saturday, April 12th. and 26th. Instructor: Maureen Goldsmith |
Traditional Hand Quilting with a Twist.
Maureen will begin this workshop by going over both the supplies and the techniques that make hand quilting a relaxing experience. Students will then practice their stitching so at he end of the day they understand why so many quilters love to hand quilt. A bit of a modern twist in this project is the addition of the Couched Filling Stitch. It will be up to each individual student as to whether she adds this element to her project or not. Saturday, April 19th. 10:30am –4:30pm Instructor: Maureen Goldsmith |
